Just Finish!

I receive a daily newsletter called “Daily Motivation” and find it very inspirational. Today they featured a quote by Sam Parker “You have energy. Where should it be invested?” and a video “212 the extra degree”.

I spent my lunch hour thinking about that quote. Am I spending my “energy” wisely? Am I “investing” in the correct things? I did not come to any earth shattering conclusion, but It did remind me that “It is MY life and I am responsible for the results!”

Watch the movie and see what conclusion you come to.

Dollars equals Watts

My friend Paul sent me a link to a great article about aerodynamics.

I love my kids!

The family and I joined the local YMCA last Sunday. The coolest thing happened while I was swimming laps. My daughter came over and said she wanted to do the swim test. I (off the cuff) told her to go ask the life guard what she had to do to pass the swim test. I was thinking she wouldn’t do it. Well, she showed me! She walked over to the life guard and next thing you know she and two other kids are climbing into the pool. My daughter swam the whole length of the pool and proceeded to tread water. I was completely amazed by her drive and determination. She was the only one to complete the swim test.

I am so proud of her! :)

Ok, it snowed the roads are ice and the temperature outside is to cold to ride. Your following a base building plan and getting the hours in, but the WKO+ Performance manager chart is not showing any improvement and the  CTL and TSB are just a flat line. It does not look like the “difficulty” is going to increase all that much over the next 2 months. The workouts actually seem very easy. I would score them on a RPE level of 2 or 3. Do I keep following the base building plan? Or jack up the intensity so there starts to show some improvement on my WKO+ performance manager chart?

Doing the snow dance….

I picked the kids up from school today. The first thing out of my daughters mouth was “Dad do you think we will have a snow day tomorrow?” All evening she talked about doing the snow dance. What is the snow dance you ask? Well the snow dance is a combination of events that a little girl’s imagination believes will cause a snow day. It all starts by taking a very long steamy shower, its important to use all the hot water. Then you flush an ice cube down the toilet, put a spoon under your pillow and eat an ice cube right before going to sleep. You have to love the imaginations of our children……..

Snow in Michigan.

I didn’t get to ride on the roads this weekend. Snow flurries on Saturday and the forecast of snow on Sunday. I did do 2 hours of spin over the weekend. Saturday’s class was a strength ride and I turned Sunday’s ride in to a Anaerobic Endurance session. The upcoming week calls for 8 hours on the bike and only 3 hours cross training.

Sunday November 9, 2008

Did spin class this morning, 50 minutes of pain. I burned 985 calories, according to my trusty Polar HR monitor. Today’s ride was a strength ride. We listened to some great music. The class was pretty close to full, 13 riders today.
